Exhibition Statement below:
‘An exhibition of art and art making in lockdown’
Veteran’s Art talking is a group of local Service Veteran’s who have created all the artwork in this exhibition whilst in ‘lockdown’ due to Covid 19 restrictions.
The group has met on-line each week since January 2021 to discuss art and art making, and share their ideas, thoughts and feelings about the effects of ‘lockdown’ and to explore new and creative ways to manage difficult issues through these difficult unprecedented times.
Each member was provided with a selection of art materials, some suggested subjects and a plan to work towards this exhibition, supported throughout by two registered art psychotherapists from Art Therapy Yorkshire.
Along with the support of First Light Trust in Scarborough. The artwork on display demonstrates the unique approach of each group member and the discovery of their own creativity whilst realising the potential
for art, art-making and creativity to benefit self esteem, self-confidence and well-being. Benefits that have helped individuals to endure the pandemic and will be carried into the future.
