Art Therapy Yorkshire receives High Sheriff of North Yorkshire Award

Art Therapy Yorkshire started this week off in a great way. Clare Granger, High Sheriff of North Yorkshire, presented an award to Art Therapy Yorkshire for recognition of the great and valuable services to the community. 💚
Sue was very happy to accept the award certificate presented by Clare Granger, High Sheriff of North Yorkshire along with a donation of £500 to Art Therapy Yorkshire.

Thank you to Clare, High Sheriff of North Yorkshire and to the Art Therapy Yorkshire Trustee’s for putting on a wonderful event to mark this occasion with tea and scones.
Clare, High Sheriff of North Yorkshire gave a speech, saying some of the following during this speech.

‘… for me as I painter myself, I have particularly wanted to follow this theme, as we were discussing creativity and the therapeutic value of that.’

‘…when I was involved with this idea in my mind, I came to visit Sue here [at Art Therapy Yorkshire] and we discussed exactly what you do here [at Art Therapy Yorkshire], … it sent me on this path to follow this theme and it’s been really rewarding…’

‘…charities that use creativity in what they do to support people … I am so pleased because it’s really lived up to my expectations in that how valuable that really is for people… it makes such a difference…gathering’ together.

‘…listening to Sue … the thing that I found so moving was … about that man who, had this problem going round around his head. He couldn’t get out of, and [Sue] said to him “try drawing your way out on paper” and it was almost an encouraged him to think there was a way out of this that was going on in his mind and that has stayed with me all this time since we had that conversation.’

‘…make people realise how important this creative aspect is for people even those people maybe like that man who didn’t really think about painting or drawing was something that was anything to do with him really.’

‘… [art therapy] is something that can really work so I just really I’m so grateful to all of you for doing what we do here [at Art Therapy Yorkshire], which I think is really really worthwhile to take it so thank you so much.’

Thank you Jack Brunton

We also wish to thank the Jack Brunton Charitable Trust Foundation based in Stokesley North Yorkshire for their support.

We really do appreciate the ongoing support from our local and much needed charitable trusts in these ‘cost of living  crisis ‘ times .

We love their use of the old North Riding map so have included it here.
