Arts in Hospitals – Exhibitions

Art Therapy Yorkshire in Scarborough Hospital

The Arts in York Hospital are delighted to display this collection of artworks by individuals engaging with Art Therapy Yorkshire sessions.

The artworks in this exhibition have been created by individuals engaging with the programs or services of Art Therapy Yorkshire, or those who are currently a member of one of their art therapy groups.

Art Therapy Yorkshire is a registered charity aiming to provide art psychotherapy for all age groups both from their studio base in Scarborough and through mobile services across Yorkshire.

Art psychotherapy is a psychological therapy which uses all types of art materials to help express thoughts and feelings.  Clients do not need to have any previous art experience or talent as an artist; the therapy is about communicating thoughts and emotions through different images and objects, with little focus on the final outcome.

This long-term exhibition can be found on Scarborough Hospital’s south link corridor.

ATY and The ARTS in York Hospital are thrilled to present a new exhibition created by individuals engaging with the services of ATY.  Many thanks to the work of the facilities team while we organised!

NYCC Innovation fund

This is fantastic news for us and a chance for individuals to access much needed Art Psychotherapy locally. ATY can now announce our successful inclusion in the 2017 NYCC Innovation Fund. Working in both Scarborough and Rydale areas we will offer early intervention and prevention work Free of Charge to  North Yorkshire residents, ages over 18 with non complex mental health issues.

If in doubt… just ask! This will include individual and group work. Clients may be referred through the local mental health services or self refer.

Opportunity for sessional work

ArttherapyYorkshire is a registered charity committed to delivering professional Art Psychotherapy to adults and children from our studio base in Scarborough, or our mobile studio service across the area. As a registered charity our aim is to provide our services free, or at an affordable rate to allow access to therapeutic support to those who would not otherwise be able to afford it.    Thanks to increasing interest in our services we are looking for qualified art psychotherapists to work alongside our dedicated team of self-employed professional practitioners delivering sessional Art Psychotherapy to both individuals and groups, as and when therapeutic programmes are established.  Applicants must be registered with BAAT (British Association of Art Therapists) & HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council), be self employed, and willing to work within ArttherapyYorkshire’s code of practice, and safeguarding policies. All ArttherapyYorkshire practitioners are self employed and work to BAAT
