Thanks OurCo

A lovely moment! I offered to buy a really useful 2nd hand desk in our new local charity shop OurCo, on Aberdeen Walk . When they realised where it was going they gave it to us. So flowers go to them also!

Thank you to Yorkshire Building Society

We at ATY are giving a big shout out to our local Yorkshire Building Society. The Small Change, Big Difference scheme, part of their  Charitable Foundation has awarded us £395 towards secure  storage furniture… not the most exciting purchase maybe, but very important to us. Thanks YBS, here are some flowers from us.

Thank You

ATY is giving a big thank-you to all those who visited our exhibition at the Old Parcels Office Scarborough Railway Station. We had hundreds of visitors, despite the chilly February weather. Our artist’s work was displayed to full effect in this fabulous heritage venue where we utilised the height and scope of the building. An interesting feature was our cosy 50’s sitting room installation, which many guests enjoyed, not withstanding that the fire consisted of 5 fake tea lights!DSC_2906

BAAT HCPC why hire an art therapist?

Do check out this important  campaign on the HCPC website. As art therapists we are all registered practitioners with the Health & Care Professions Council. Fascinating case studies available.

Arts therapists

An Arts Therapist is a psychological therapist who has arts-based experience plus training in psychological interventions using drama, music or art as their primary mode of communication.

Why Hire an Arts Therapist? (WHAT?) campaign

The WHAT? campaign, launched in spring 2015, highlights the benefits of using a registered Arts Therapist to employers.

Targeting organisations such as the NHS, private health organisations, social services, the prison service, charities and Local Education Authorities, it aims to raise the profile of Arts Therapists by promoting the benefits of employing a HCPC registered professional and their work in transforming the lives of service users.

Amazing Turnout

Peter and Sue took part in the Scarborough Urban Fund Voice Your Choice event this week. we were not successful in our funding bid; however we were delighted to be a part of this event. The enthusiasm of the Scarborian residents of whom 270 turned out to vote on a fairly miserable Wednesday evening was inspiring. We were able to meet, and engage in conversations about our work and aims as well as about this particular bid to very many of those who participated, We think we must of reached personally close  to 300 people.  If you were one of those who picked up our leaflets, do follow it up, we are more than happy to take inquiries, and discuss any possibilities of working with you.

Peter and Sue, before the crowds arrived!009
