Award for All success

Fantastic news, We are now able to share with you the announcement made in the Big Lottery Fund press release on the 25th March.

Art Therapy Yorkshire, with the project entitled ‘Scarborough – Seen through Art’  – has been awarded new funding.  This is what The Big Lottery  say…
“This is a project by a community organisation in Scarborough. The group will use funding to deliver a series of art therapy group sessions, for Polish immigrants, adults with learning disabilities and women who have suffered trauma. This will provide beneficiaries with positive activities, with the aim of building confidence and reducing social isolation”.    Thank you Big Lottery, and thanks again to Boshier-Hinton who  are co-funding this work.

Pickering opportunity

We are pleased to announce a final Artworking group is now planned to start in Pickering, North Yorkshire. This group will begin on Tuesday the 7th April and also run for 6 weeks. We are working with our colleagues at Next Steps, Norton, and thank them for their support.  If you wish to be involved and are in the Rydale area please contact Next Steps, 7 Church St,  Norton. for further information.

We have successfully recruited to our fourth Artworking group, due to start on Thursday the 9th April. We warmly welcome members of Firstlight, our local veteran’s support organisation and look forward to working with them.

ArtWORKING exhibition

ATY are delighted to let you know that our first group of artists have completed the ArtWORKING programme and will be holding an exhibition of their work this Tuesday. This has been interesting work, addressing anxieties around unemployment and back to work issues but judging by the enthusiasm, engagement and perseverance of the group members,our innovative approach certainty worked. The exhibition will be held at The Street, 1.45 to 2 45 on Tuesday 24th February. artworking

North Yorkshire Match Fund

Local giving will  be doubling individual donations by up to £100 per donor, just for charities in North Yorkshire and Teeside. The match fund starts on Tuesday the 10th of February and will run until Tuesday the 24th of February, or until all the available match funding has been allocated. This is your chance to really make those donations count.  Please see our How you can help page to donate. Artscape at Eastfield

Well, our second 10  week community Art Therapy project ends this week at Westway open Arms, Eastfield. Thanks to Yorkshire Coast Homes who funded this work through their participatory budget Scheme, Your Choice Your Vote. We shall be bidding in this next round, so we hope, if successful, that this valuable work will continue. ArtWorking – recruiting now

We are now recruiting to our series of four 6 week art therapy groups to be held in the big studio at The Street.. Join now – complete the contact form on the website or email me at admin@arttherapyyorkshire.org.uk .

Each group will be encouraged to develop both their own work and the work of their group colleagues, to plan, organise and present and host an exhibition of their work to the public at the end of the six week programme. To take part you should be 19 +, unemployed (working 8 hours or less per week) and have the right to work in the European Union.

Two new members of our team

We welcome two new Art Therapists to our team.  Holly and Angela, who  both recently qualified at the Northern Programme Sheffield,  bring extra and complementary skills to our team. We hope to be working together on exciting new projects we are developing with Your Consortium, Knaresborough!  Watch this space for further developments!
